Discover Malaga With your Own Pace
MálagaBegin your day by exploring the Carmen Thyssen Museum, which showcases an impressive collection of 19th-century Spanish art, particularly works from the Andalusian school. Afterward, take a stroll through the Atarazanas Market, a bustling and colorful market housed in a historic building. It’s a great place to sample local products, such as fresh seafood, cheeses, olives, and cured meats, or simply enjoy the lively atmosphere. Next, visit the Centre Pompidou Malaga, the first branch of the famous French art museum outside of Paris. Its bold architecture and contemporary art exhibitions make it an interesting stop for art lovers. Take some time to relax at La Concepción Botanical Garden, one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Spain. It’s a peaceful oasis just outside the city center, filled with lush greenery, tropical plants, and stunning views of the surrounding hills. For lunch, head to the El Palo neighborhood, a traditional area known for its seafood. Try espeto de sardinas (sardines skewered and grilled over an open flame), a popular local dish. In the afternoon, visit the Museo del Vidrio y Cristal, a fascinating museum housed in a restored 18th-century mansion, where you can explore a stunning collection of glasswork and learn about the history of glass-making in Spain. If you're interested in local history, the Museo de Málaga offers an incredible collection of artifacts, from prehistoric to modern times. Spend the rest of the day at Malagueta Beach, where you can enjoy the sun, relax by the sea, and perhaps even take a dip in the Mediterranean. If you're feeling active, rent a bike or take a leisurely walk along the beach promenade.
