About this tour
Departure from Porto at 9:00 a.m. in a comfortable minibus towards Aveiro. During the journey, the guide will share interesting insights about the history, culture and traditions of this charming coastal region. The first stop is the picturesque Costa Nova, famous for its colourful striped wooden houses. Originally built by fishermen, these houses have become one of Portugal’s most iconic and photographed settings. There will be time for a relaxing walk along the beach and to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this coastal area. We then continue to Aveiro, known as the “Venice of Portugal.” Here, you may choose to take an optional 45-minute ride on a traditional moliceiro boat, sailing through the canals that cross the city while discovering its history and distinctive charm. Afterwards, we enjoy a guided walking tour through the historic centre, passing by elegant Art Nouveau buildings, the fish market, the main canals and Aveiro Cathedral. There will also be free time for lunch, to taste the famous ovos moles (local sweet delicacy) or simply explore the city at your own pace. In the afternoon, we head to Válega to visit the impressive Válega Church, renowned for its richly decorated façade covered in colourful tiles depicting religious scenes. The day ends by the sea in Miramar, with a stop at the unique Senhor da Pedra Chapel, built in the 17th century on the rocks. A remarkable setting where historical heritage meets the Atlantic landscape — perfect for unforgettable photos. Return to Porto with an expected arrival at approximately 4:30 p.m
